Terri M. Long

Terri M. Long has many years of experience in the Illinois and Indiana bankruptcy courts. She is a 1987 graduate of Chicago Kent College of Law in Chicago. Since 1991, Ms. Long has practiced exclusively in the United States Bankruptcy Courts, representing the interests of creditors.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Long served for three years as an Attorney for the Standing Trustee for the Northern District of Illinois. As counsel to former Chapter 13 Trustee Jack McCullough, Ms. Long assisted in the administration of more than 6,000 consumer bankruptcy cases and represented the trustee in all court proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of Illinois at Chicago.

From mid-1990 until early 1999, Ms. Long practiced at the law firm of Sherman & Sherman, a creditor's rights firm in Chicago. In April of 1999, she opened her own law firm in the Chicago suburb of Homewood, to serve both her Chicago and Northwest Indiana clients.

Previously, Ms. Long served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Ilana Diamond Rovner, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois and now a Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Judge Rovner was the first woman appointed to the Seventh Circuit.

In 2013, Ms. Long was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. By her admission to the Supreme Court, Ms. Long joined less than 1% of all attorneys who were admitted to the Bar in open court by all nine U.S. Supreme Court Justices sitting en banc.

Prior to her career in law, Ms. Long was a reporter and editor for several Illinois newspapers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
